Could my savings cover my living costs?
The useful question is what your money could support. Spending, income, growth and rising prices all shape the answer. Pace brings them together so you can explore your own choices.
A balance is only part of the picture.
Money can support spending for a while without income. That is different from an estimate showing wealth could keep covering spending without a paycheck. Pace keeps those answers distinct.
Growth is an assumption you control. It is not a return Pace recommends or promises. Rising prices can also change how much your money needs to cover.
See what a change could mean.
The US example starts with $58,400 in wealth, $5,800 monthly income, $4,335 monthly spending and $720 in monthly debt payments. Pace shows about 17 years at the current pace.
Try spending less.
A $175 monthly spending reduction changes the displayed outlook to about 20 years.

Try extra income.
The saved extra-income decision changes the displayed outlook to about 21 years.

These examples combine wealth and continuing income. They do not mean the starting savings alone cover spending for those years, or show a date when work becomes optional.
What assumptions do these examples use?
3.85% yearly wealth growth, no future-savings growth, 2.85% inflation. These inputs are editable. Actual growth, spending and prices can change.
How long could savings last without a paycheck?
For a fixed cash estimate, subtract money kept aside and one-off costs, then divide the remaining savings by what you draw each month. With 18,000 and monthly costs of 2,500, that covers seven whole months and leaves 500. Keep 6,000 untouched and the break budget covers four whole months with 2,000 left. No growth, inflation or future pay rise is assumed.
Calculate how many months your savings could cover. The same tool can check a chosen length. This answers a different question from the app examples above, which include continuing income and editable longer-term assumptions.
Planning a specific time away from work? Estimate the starting savings for a career break, with a reserve kept separate from spending. This fixed-money budget answers a shorter-term question than the app outlook above.
Want to model your ongoing finances with inflation and growth? Forecast when work could become optional or test what happens if your income stops today.
Keep annual payments separate from monthly averages.
A bill of 120 a year averages 10 a month. That helps describe ongoing spending, but it does not mean you pay 10 each month. Keep the full payment and its due date in your cash budget, especially during a break from work.
A monthly average helps describe spending, while a payment schedule tells you when cash is needed. Check irregular payments before planning time without income. Avoid counting the same bill as both a monthly cost and an extra annual cost in the same estimate.
Review the inputs before extending the outlook.
If the monthly living-cost figure is uncertain, prepare an itemized break budget first. A precise formula cannot correct an omitted bill. To understand a fixed period, compare the six-month worked examples. For unconfirmed return dates, map the timeline until pay arrives.
Review the wider financial checklist before changing work. These preparation resources do not model retirement or replace the app's longer-term assumptions.

A few useful answers.
Is Covered for life a guarantee?
No. It describes an estimate under your chosen assumptions. Actual spending, prices and returns can change.
What if I do not know what growth to enter?
You can test different assumptions for existing wealth and future savings. Pace does not choose investments or promise a return. A lower estimate can show how much your outlook depends on growth.
Do I have to move my whole budget?
No. You can enter your current amounts and use Pace alongside another budgeting app. Recording or importing expenses is optional.
